A mountain retreat with a difference!

ecoRidge Hideaway since 2009

ecoRidge Hideaway is a  family operated Bed&Breakfast Self-Catering. In 2003, Greg and I sold our place North of Wollongong for a family trip around Australia. At the end of our travels, visiting relatives in the Lockyer Valley region, we found this beautiful spot with a relocated Queenslander and a self-sufficient energy set-up.  It was on the market at the time and, very quickly,  we became the owners of it. Today, with the chalets, we are pleased  to share with you this lovely part of the Earth.

Set amongst Gum trees and rocky outcrop, surrounded by valleys and mountain peaks, ecoRidge Hideaway is  home to a multitude of birds and wildlife . The chalets are part of a 50 acres property with trails to allow you to explore. In order to develop a better knowledge and respect of this pristine environment, we are members of the voluntary program 'Land for Wildlife' whose focus is Nature Conservation.

In the same philosophy, we have been trying to follow  ecologically sustainable practices  as much as possible in setting up our retreat, the main ones being:

  • On-grid solar energy
  • Solar hot water
  • Bamboo flooring
  • Recycled and plantation grown timber: the decks are made of recycled Iron Bark in provenance of old railway bridges now replaced with concrete ones.
  • Worm activated sewage treatment system with reused of treated water for garden sub-irrigation.

In winter, slow combustion wood fireplaces are there to keep you warm and cosy.

To minimize waste, each chalet has separate garbage bins for recycling.
You are invited to put your kitchen scraps in our worm farms.

The three chalets feature all modern facilities for you to enjoy your stay with style.

Your hosts,

Greg & Sylvie
